Help! men are soooo weak!

Today we found out that this sulky is far too heavy for a human slave. Especially with two Ladies in the seat, My slaves jan nor marc seem to be able to reach a considerable speed with it, no matter how hard they are whipped and threatened. When alone in the seat, I managed to make them run, but only to a speed hardly higher than walking, but with Myriam, it was hopeless. At a certain moment We were whipping marc real hard simultaneously, but the only thing that happened was that his back got more and more bleeding.

I think I’d better sell the sulky again and try to find a more suitable one. I hope some of you can help Me. I wonder what I should look at when I want to buy a new one. What are the characteristics we have to look at? Smaller weels? Thicker tyres? A lighter frame?.....

I cannot ask the friend who adviced on the sulky. He assumed of course that it was for a horse and I cannot tell him it must be lighter as it is meant to be pulled by a human slave!

So, I hope some of you can help Me.

  1. Dear Ma’am

If a man goes up on stair, his performance is approximately 200 watts! It is 20 kg/sec/m a little this is a lot. (The correct number is 7 kilogram between 15 kilogram )

    And a little mathematics:
This means that a man can lift 20 kilograms without an effort 1 second 1 meter into tall.
The mass of the car is approximate 50 kg + the ladies mass 100 kg = 150 kg
    the frictional coefficient is 3%

A person who rides a bicycle is able to go on approximately 10 kilometers by the hours without an effort. He does not endure it for a long time more quickly! If there is bigger headwind the cyclist is not able to go on this much for a long time. Gets out of breath soon (our heart can give only this much energy to us!).

A man (slave) would be able to pull away this mass of car with similar velocity it is possibly, (if we counting with 200 watts), but he has to move the mass of the own body. And so it is an impossibility for him to be puling the car 10 kilometers by hours! The man capable to multiply tenfold his strength, but it is possible only until very short time. For example: he can lift a man with a weight of 60-80 kilograms until some minutes.
The power of many hundred male slaves (or horsepower) is concealed in the engine of a car.

  2. buy a rickshaw instead?

The rickshaw does not reach the cyclist's velocity. The weight of the vehicle and the passenger is irrelevant. It is necessary to overcome the friction power of the two masses only. It is 3 % only!
But the man is only 60 kg. It would be necessary to move this 60 kg mass quickly. What is absurdity... slowly it's possible!

  4. The biggest things slow your cart down is rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is affected by the weight of the car, the type of wheel, and the surface the wheel is rolling on. From looking at the picture, the car appears heavy (eg it has suspension, metal frame, etc). The wheels are also very narrow and it is on a soft surface (grass). This means that the narrow wheels will sink into the soft surface and make it very difficult to pull. The first thing I would suggest is using the cart on a smooth paved surface.

If that doesn't work, or if you need to use it on the grass, you will probably need to get a new cart (or yolk multiple slaves together). The things to look for in a new cart are:

    Light weight
No suspension (unfortunately you will need to sacrifice comfort for speed)
Wider, inflated wheels (they will sink into the grass less)

As someone else suggested, we may just be talking about a rickshaw at this point.

Hope that helps, I am interested in hearing what sort of solution you come up with.

  5. Yes your cart is for a real horse and much too heavy for a male to pull as well as two Ladies. I had a lot of experience pulling Ladies around the race track at OWK in various carts. All of them were custom made. The back straight was up hill and that would be impossible with a heavy wooden cart. There are companies that make special single and double carts made of light material and any of the other specialist ponyboy websites will know of these. Some are made form Racing bike tires and wheels with light weight bicycle frames. If you can not find one I'm sure one of your talented slaves could probably make one in your local area,
